Re: 2006 Classic Countdown
Sun, May 7, 2006 - 7:14 AMThe show was amazing. Definately have to order the DVD. The next theatre concert that DCI is hosting will be for the Quarterfinals on Thursday, August 10th. DCI.org will have more details about theaters, ordering tickets, etc. It is definately a fantastic way to enjoy Finals week, without having to actually be there. There will be 17 corps performing in ther quarterfinals.
What is your favorite DCI performance since 1972? Mine, there's a tie: Cavies 2002 and Madison 1975. -

Re: 2006 Classic Countdown
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 3:28 PMAw daveed.... Im completely biased on that one..... '88 BD... but thats because I was wearing blue that year :-D so Im wrapped up in the emotion of it too... still lol.
But I also loved SCV's Phantom and pretty much anything VK did, because it was fun.
I'm thinking I look at the shows in so many different ways that I couldnt actually narrow anything down.... pick any corps any year and if I saw it, I can probably find something about it that I loved... except '85 Star.... I just couldnt handle it for some reason. -

Re: 2006 Classic Countdown
Tue, May 9, 2006 - 10:48 PM'75 Madison was riveting. Cavies '76 "Russian Saliors Dance", 27th Lancers '71.
Drum Corps is my NASCAR!!! I went ot my first show, as a participant, in 1971, IL WVF State in Blue Island. It was a scorching day and Bellevue Black Knights contras were passing out at attention during the field inspection before moving to the starting line. Tose were different times, but there was some amazing shows being staged. "71 Cavies "Circus Show" (their 25th Anniversary) was pure magic to a 12 yr old ADHD kid. Changed my life for ever.
SCV "Bottle Dance" gives me goose bumps. The drama of it all. "76 BD embarked on a new frontier that seems to be endless in it's possibilities.
As a eclectic hand percussionist (www.drumfest.com), drum corps rides high in my mind as I let my fingers and hands do the talking.
The Royal Aires, Skokie Indians, the Nisei Ambassadors.
Sorry so long winded, but I really love this stuff and it's great to be able to talk with others who understand. -

Re: 2006 Classic Countdown
Fri, May 26, 2006 - 4:10 PMI've gotten so sucked into the bellydance areas of tribe that I completely missed this!
I followed DCI back in the 80's, and marched WGI in 89/90. Loooooved the 89 Phantom show! Of course, VK was always one of my faves - too fun!! (I even sweet talked a drummer outta his red Chucks at a show in Birmingham - back when they still had shows in Birmingham!)
Any chance of this making it to a screen in DC? -

Re: 2006 Classic Countdown
